walking to the cafe this evening noticed rivulets of vinegar coursing down the gutters. most peculiar.

had bizarre metadreams last night. they were very hectic. i dreamt that i dreamt of exposed brains and odd bananas and cursing out someone. images flashed for an instant and were gone. i woke up with the duvet twisted around me. fingers clenched around thumbs. hands on either side of my face. i wake up in that posture rather frequently.

yesterday i went to the bargain barn. it was unlike any other shopping experience of my life. post-apocalyptic frenzy of people turning over bins of soiled clothes. trampling books. children snatching things out of unsuspecting hands just like their adult counterparts. perhaps this contributed to my crazy dreams. dunno. one woman pulled an antique log cabin quilt from one of the bins. envies galore. i had to suppress the urge to wrestle her for it. it was done in herringbone and tweed and a variety of heathered wools. the hand-stitched squares were gorgeous.

i'm gearing up for an etsy update. so hoorays. i finally photographed the boots over again. the color appears to be much better in these latest photos. now comes the tedious cycle of resizing and writing copy for each posting.

wellidy. that is all for now.

adieu.

i've just returned to the land of banana slugs and grifters. i checked my mail and discovered a really beautiful parcel newly arrived from oakland. sent to me by a kind soul. thank you j--. not only was the book contained in the parcel absolutely lovely but i am completely smitten with the bookplate inside. it shows a giant walking with a stick over his shoulder. the stick is spitted with the bodies of men. it reads: they did not return my book. this is the bookplate for me. oh yes.

my old schwinn is now in bits on the parlor floor. hopefully i'll be able to put it together again. i think i can do it. but keep your fingers crossed for me anyway.

i brought my banjo back from the avenue of live oaks. i will try to imitate shirley collins. the next job is to try and fix my four-track so i can record myself and create testament to how completely ridiculous i sound.

wellidy. i am rather peckish. time for food.

adieu.

so far the day goes well. i made buckwheat pancakes with flax meal and blueberries and cinnamon. sat looking out over the river. tended my etsy. my pixie boots were chosen for a treasury! hooray! and i sold something. hooray again! i must do some hideous and tedious paperwork now. i suppose everything can't be sunshine and lollies.

so. i'm listening to parrenin, fromont and lefebvre. i have three tracks from chateau dans les nuages. i want that album so very badly. i've been searching for it for ages. i found several hardcopies for sale online but i don't have a turntable. the three tracks i have from the album were ones some kind music blogger ripped and posted. but i've had no luck finding a rar or zip of the entire album anywhere. i even posted on the requests page of time has told me. but no luck. wargh. if you're reading this and you have a hard copy of this album please oh please rip and post it. or if you are the owner of a record label for goodness' sake reissue this! pretty pretty please.

here. have a listen to my favorite track of the three.

alrighty. now for the ugly paperwork.

adieu.

i haven't been abducted by butterflies. i've just been swamped. that was a joke of sorts and i feel slightly ashamed of making it. especially since i had to tell you it was a joke. and now even more so because i'm continuing to talk about it. changing topic.

i went and visited my aunt and uncle's ranch on the carrizo. we had a big do and my extended family made an appearance. even my great-uncle henry! he kept saying "i'll be 96!" it was quite cute as he was genuinely proud of his upcoming birthday and not just talking gibberish because he's incredibly old. my aunt gave me a dead crow. a nestling that had fallen from its twiggy nest and landed in a water trough. drowned. apparently the thing had fallen from the nest on a number of occasions and had been returned each time by my aunt. eventually i will add the skull to my collection. i know its ghoulish. but animals shouldn't have such graceful beautiful bones! it's hardly my fault!

here are some photos of the day of the do.

i am disappointed with the color saturation. darn it. these looked much more sunset-hued and golden in iphoto. ah well.

i really want that buckskin for my own. i've written about him before. really lovely horse. but very wary of people. he isn't even green broke and it shows. i had to coax him to the fence with a handful of alfalfa just to get his picture.

i've added some things to my etsy. none of them are of my own creation. vintage goods. i am ashamed of the awful photos. gah. i'm going to take good photos tomorrow and replace the old ones. i just wanted to get all of my items listed at once. and i did. so yay. i keep seeing college girls downtown dressed like peter pan. i haven't decided if i like this trend or not. though i did see a girl that was so very cute and dressed like a pixie. she was wearing a brown suede vest over a green top and little ankle boots. i approved. but i digress. the shop!

wellidy. i must go and knit the socks on my needles.

g'night.
