ah. must be a new year. the neighbors have already started shooting their guns in the air. and setting off firecrackers. it's only 8:30. i dread what midnight will bring.
tomorrow i'm hoping to squeeze in an etsy update. i have little crocus and bluebell and scilla forcing kits put together for my shop. i just need to photograph them and create the listings. i'm kind of sad that i didn't think of the idea earlier in the fall so i could have ordered some of these little beauties. oh well. i'll know better next autumn. my kits include three wee little forcing glasses of varying shapes. they're adorable. i'm pretty excited. i'm going to force some crocuses myself. i've never forced them before (though i have grown them a number of times outdoors). it looks like i'm not the only one feeling the winter blah. maybe this bodes well for my little shop. i don't feel bad about what i just said because growing things is cheer-making. and i if i can help support myself by making others cheerful i think it's a good.
i meant to write a wee post the other day. and then i started this one but was interrupted. and now i can't remember what i was going to write.
i'm taking refuge under the duvet and considering a hot bath. it is cold.
it's cold. i'm going to make fleur de sel caramel in a bit.
public transportation is really frustrating sometimes. especially here. today a bus driver left me stranded at a transfer point because he decided to depart two minutes earlier than scheduled. and what's really annoying is that i walked all the way up to the door of the bus and made eye contact with him. but he still drove away. i'm calling his superior tomorrow and snitching on him. my day was entirely wasted because of him. i had to wait another hour for the next bus and by the time i got to my destination the office was closed. needless to say my nose was really bent out of shape. (heee. it's always bent out of shape!)
i took lola out for a stretch last night. the little persimmon tree on the corner next to hazel's house is spangled with wee fruits. they're squat and cushion-shaped. the persimmons in the alley are long and pointed. or would be if the tree hadn't been severely pruned and had actually set fruit this year. anyway. i pocketed two of the little flattish fruits. crosses mark the top. the curves are covered in bloom.
the pomegranate set quite a lot of fruit this year. they're huge and red and cheery. i brought one indoors the other afternoon. i sat in bed picking the wee seeds out and eating them while reading about moomins. very sweet.
